::: an artists process, suzan zahedi :::

I had the pleasure of visiting Newport Beach's Suzan Zahedi at her home studio as well as her office and gallery nearby. Suzan is an artist making a living at her craft, primarily inspired by random found objects: seed pods, leaves and items discarded by nature. These objects and shapes help encourage and inform her new designs (she has tons of them) and from there she creates unique, beautiful jewelry.
Suzan's process is subject to that common relationship in art and business; having to make new items regularly, sell them, watch them go and create new pieces. Her industry is such that she has to continually develop entirely new collections, which merges exquisitely with her overflowing creativity. Here is a glimpse into the many stages of her successful business:

walking for inspiration - she tunes in - zooming in on the details
channeling that inspiration into drawings, colors, designs
editing down, refining the ideas to meet resources or time restraints
grouping together the colors and textures to make a coherent collection
personally producing or overseeing and approving each treasure created
rearranging and displaying the new pieces in her gallery

photographing and then sharing her point of view via marketing and sales
see www.studiosuzan.com for her current collection
and then... she begins again
